Global Architecture - Tel-Aviv Israel 2016

The Crazy House is a unique residential building located on HaYarkon Street in Tel Aviv, completed in 1985 by architect Leon Gaignebet. This structure is famous for its contrasting facades, where the side facing the sea features organic, flowing white shapes inspired by Gaudi, while the other side is more linear and incorporates sand and greenery. It was originally designed as an apartment complex to challenge the standard functionalist architecture of the city.

The building stands out with its surrealist and expressionist elements, featuring a white concrete web that wraps around the balconies like a melting liquid. The facade includes integrated planters and sculptural reliefs that create a sense of movement and depth. This style was most popular during the late 20th-century postmodern movement, which sought to bring artistic and whimsical forms back into urban living spaces.
